West Virginia’s upset hopes drenched in weather delayed opener against No. 8 Penn State

West Virginia lost to Penn State — for the 50th time, in fact. West Virginia dropped a season opener under Neal Brown — the fourth in a row. West Virginia falls flat on their face in a big game that would immediately put them back into the national conversation.

After a two-hour-plus halftime delay due to severe weather, the Mountaineers lost to the Nittany Lions, 34-12, in Morgantown to open the season 0-1.

WVU trailed 20-6 heading into halftime after a sloppy first half.
