West Virginia’s Randy Mazey Named Chuck Tanner Collegiate Coach of the Year

West Virginia baseball head coach Randy Mazey has been named the Chuck Tanner Collegiate Coach of the Year, and will accept the award on November 11th at the 11th Annual Chuck Tanner Awards Banquet in Pittsburgh.

Mazey’s 2017 Mountaineers won 36 games and reached the NCAA tournament, the program’s first tournament appearance since 1996. Mazey has an 88-79 overall record since taking over the West Virginia baseball program.

The Chuck Tanner Award is named after former Pittsburgh Pirate manager Chuck Tanner, a New Castle, PA native. Tanner’s baseball career spanned 60 years, 19 of which was spent as a major league manager.
