Bouncing back following a lackluster performance against Northern Iowa, Oscar Tshiebwe showed his quality against Witchita State with 19-points and 18-rebounds as the Mountaineers (6-0) knocked off the previously undefeated Shockers to win the Cancun Challenge, 75-63.
After a tight first half, the Mountaineers opened the second half with a dominate defensive performance, as WSU went over three-minutes without a field goal, and went on a 10-1 run to go ahead 48-36. The run was fueled by freshman point guard Miles McBride, who continued his standout performance in Cancun. McBride finished with 7 points and 4 assists in just under 18-minutes of action.
