Last week, West Virginia men’s basketball head coach Bob Huggins states the Backyard Brawl game with Pitt would be canceled for the 2020-21 season due to a COVID-19-shortened season. Today, the schools announced a revised schedule to continue the rivalry series. Essentially, this year’s game was postponed until the 2023-24 season.
WVU will now host the matchup during the 2021-22 season. In 2022-23, Pitt will host the game. The final game scheduled for this series of Backyard Brawl fixtures will be played in Morgantown during the 2023-24 season. Specific dates and times have yet to be determined.
