West Virginia’s defense made an immediate impact under new direction, playing a crucial role in securing a 31-24 victory over Cincinnati (5-4, 3-3 Big 12) for the Mountaineers (5-4, 4-2 Big 12).
Despite an early touchdown by Cincinnati, WVU’s defense quickly turned the momentum, with Anthony Wilson intercepting a panicked flip from Bearcats’ quarterback Brendan Sorsby and returning it 79 yards to tie the game at 7-7.
