West Virginia (4-3) found themselves in a pitching duel Saturday evening in the second game of the Mountaineers’ double header with Georgia Southern (2-4), and ended up falling just short of picking up their first series sweep of the young 2019 baseball season with a 1-0 loss to the Eagles.

Junior right-hander Kade Strowd got the start for the Mountaineers and went six and two-thirds innings, striking out eight batters and giving up just two hits.
Georgia Southern’s lone run came when Eagles outfielder Nolan Tressler scored an unearned run in a sixth inning that began with an error by Tristen Hudson at third base.
