The West Virginia Mountaineers (21-8, 10-6 Big 12) exacted a little revenge for the beating they took on January 31st in Ames this evening, beating the Iowa State Cyclones (13-15, 4-12 Big 12) by a final score of 85-70 in front of a sold out crowd in the WVU Coliseum.
Jevon Carter didn’t waste any time getting the assist he needed to rewrite the record books, dishing it to Esa Ahmad for a three pointer to tie the game at 7-7 with 16:00 remaining. To Iowa State’s credit, they did hang with the Mountaineers for the first 15 minutes of the first half, but a scoring drought late in the half allowed West Virginia to take a 39-30 lead into the locker room.
