West Virginia, defensive tackle commitment ‘part ways’

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Baltimore defensive lineman Marcus Coleman, committed to West Virginia since mid-July, has re-opened his recruitment, according to a report from Rivals.com.

Mountaineers coaches and Coleman “have decided to mutually part ways,” Rivals writer Keenan Cummings noted Friday.

A 6-5, 290-pound defensive tackle from St. Frances Academy, Coleman is rated a two-star prospect by Rivals and a three-star recruit by 247Sports. He holds offers from Virginia, North Carolina, N.C. State, Syracuse, Washington State, Marshall and other mid-majors.

That leaves Fairmont’s Darius Stills as the lone defensive lineman committed for 2017, though WVU remains in pursuit of Plantation, Fla.
