MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia’s open week comes at the ideal time for Mountaineers defensive back Derrek Pitts.
Coach Dana Holgorsen said that Pitts hurt his knee late in West Virginia’s 30-14 loss at Iowa State. It’s not a catastrophic, season-ending type of injury, but it seems like it would be a stretch to see Pitts on the field if the Mountaineers played this weekend.
Fortunately, they have a scheduled break until hosting Baylor on Oct. 25. After that, it’s another 10 days off until going to Texas on Nov. 3.
“Nothing happened in the game that will be long-term,” Holgorsen said.
