MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia basketball is back on the national radar.
The Mountaineers (9-1) are ranked 25th in this week’s AP Top 25, marking their return to the national rankings since the 2018 preseason poll. The ranking is a landmark for the program under Bob Huggins, marking the 100th week that West Virginia has been ranked in his 13 seasons leading his alma mater.
West Virginia overwhelmed a pair of small-school opponents last week, rolling over Austin Peay (84-53) and Nicholls State (83-57). Events elsewhere helped WVU’s rise from the land of the unranked.
