The West Virginia baseball team is just a week away from opening the 2018 season, their sixth under head coach Randy Mazey. The Mountaineers will start the season off in the Sunshine State, where they’ll take on the Jacksonville Dolphins from the Atlantic Sun Conference.
The Mountaineers will feature First Team Preseason All-American pitcher Braden Zarbnisky, the only first team selection from the Big 12 Conference. Zarbnisky finished the 2017 season with a 6-2 record and 6 saves with a 2.75 ERA, allowing only 12 earned runs in 23 appearances. Zarbinsky and the rest of the bullpen will be coached this season by 2007 Baseball America National Coach of the Year Dave Serrano, who joined the program during the offseason.
