Watch: Holgorsen talks importance of WVU-Maryland matchup

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The West Virginia-Maryland series, played 35 times in the past 36 years, takes a hiatus after Saturday’s matchup at Milan Puskar Stadium.

While lacking the ferocity of the Pitt rivalry—perhaps because nothing much rhymes with Maryland—Dana Holgorsen described the Terps as an important regional opponent that should be scheduled at least on a rotating basis.

“I don’t think it’s a mistake this game sold out pretty quick,” Holgorsen said Tuesday.

The only future WVU-Maryland games are a home-and-home set in 2020 and 2021. Thus, most of the upcoming competition between the schools will involve fighting it out for recruits.
