A junior from Chesterland, Ohio, Williams received the NCAA’s Elite 89 Award at this fall’s NCAA Cross Country Championships. The honor is given to the student-athlete with the highest grade point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA’s 89 championships. Prior to that she helped the Mountaineers to their second straight runner-up finish at the Big 12 Championships, taking 21st overall. During the indoor season, Williams placed seventh in the mile and was a member of sixth-place distance medley relay. On Thursday, she was announced as one of the qualifiers for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field East Region Preliminaries in Jacksonville, Florida, where she will compete in the 1,500-meter run.
