MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — After three games in which Marcell Lazard’s performance ranged from encouraging to serviceable, the newest starter on West Virginia’s offensive line took a step back against Iowa State.
On top of a false start and a facemask penalty, the sophomore right tackle was caught 6 yards downfield on a pass play and committed other glitches of technique, some of which were obscured by the Mountaineers winning 30-6.
“I don’t know what the explanation is. He didn’t play this game as good as he did the other ones,” said offensive line coach Ron Crook.
