WEST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. –Facing extreme cold and rainy conditions, the West Virginia University rowing team advanced three of its six crews to the semifinals at the Knecht Cup Regatta in West Windsor Township, New Jersey, on Saturday.
The Mountaineers’ novice four crew advanced to tomorrow’s Grand Final with a pair of runner-up finishes, while WVU’s first and second varsity eight boats earned semifinal appearances on Mercer Lake before competition was suspended due to weather.
“I’m pleased with how all of our crews handled today’s conditions,” said coach Jimmy King. “The deteriorating weather did not distract them from focusing on their races.
