The West Virginia men’s basketball team finished the 2017-2018 season ranked No. 13 in the USA Today Coaches Poll, fitting for a team who lost to the eventual national champions in the Sweet 16.
WVU’s 90-78 loss to Villanova (who obviously finished as the top team in the poll) was the closest margin of loss of any of the Wildcats’ foes during the tournament. The Mountaineers were ranked No. 10 in the preseason Coaches Poll and finished the season 26-11.
