Heading into the season, there was at least a little trepidation regarding the West Virginia Mountaineers receiving corp. The two leading receivers from the 2016 season, Daikiel Shorts and Shelton Gibson were lost to the NFL. Jovon Durante, a starter since his freshman season, transferred. Ka’Raun White was the leading returning receiver with 48 catches for 598 yards. The group did not inspire a lot of confidence.
Through four games, the receiving corp has become one of the strongest units on the team. Gary Jennings and David Sills have been the largest beneficiary of quarterback Will Grier’s strong play.
