How the game was won: Time and time again, West Virginia took the ball away from Texas. The Mountaineers forced four fumbles (three lost) and grabbed a pair of interceptions, resulting in 24 Mountaineers' points off five Texas turnovers. The Mountaineers won the turnover battle, 5-1, to help Dana Holgorsen secure his first-ever win over Charlie Strong. The win gave West Virginia its second-straight Big 12 victory after starting conference play 0-4.
Player of the game: West Virginia linebacker Nick Kwiatkoski was outstanding in the win.
