MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Wendell Smallwood was convinced West Virginia would score often on TCU, just as he’d seen other Big 12 teams do on film.
Instead the Mountaineers struggled in the run game at crucial times and let a series of potential touchdown passes hit the turf, resulting in a 40-10 loss that gave the program its first 0-4 conference start, in any conference.
As bad as things seem after another blowout loss, there are the five winnable games left.
“I definitely don’t think the guys are going to go in the tank,” Smallwood said.
