MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Some 49 games and nearly four calendar years had elapsed since Texas Tech failed to throw for 200 yards in a game, a streak that withered against West Virginia’s defense.
Using canopy coverage to discourage deep passes and limiting underneath damage by tackling better than in recent weeks, the Mountaineers won their first Big 12 game of the season 31-26 by defusing one of the country’s most prolific offenses.
