After three convincing losses to Baylor last season, West Virginia convinced itself this year would be different.
The No. 10 Mountaineers, needing a victory in Waco to retain the second seed in the Big 12 tournament, withstood a second-half flurry by Taurean Prince to win 69-58, holding the Bears to a season-low output and earning the round-robin sweep.
“Losing three games to them last year and coming back and sweeping them this year, it means a lot,” said Jaysean Paige, who scored 14 points as West Virginia (24-7, 13-5) turned Senior Day sour for the Bears (21-10, 10-8).
