GRANVILLE, W.Va. — A pair of sixth-inning rallies on Saturday put West Virginia in position to sweep its first home series of the season Sunday afternoon.
The Mountaineers earned a doubleheader sweep of Kent State, winning the first game 6-2 before downing the Golden Flashes 8-4 in the nightcap.
Kent State (4-9) kept the Mountaineers (8-5) off the scoreboard for the first five innings of both games before the Mountaineers struck in the sixth.
In Game 1, Darius Hill broke up Kent State starter Connor Wollersheim’s no-hit bid with a two-run triple that chased Wollersheim (0-3) from the game.
