On Nov. 27 in Las Vegas, the Mountaineers beat San Diego State to claim the Continental Tire Las Vegan Invitational title.

On Dec. 17, WVU downed in-state rival Marshall in the annual Chesapeake Energy Capital Classic, 86-68, for its fifth-straight win in the series.
Trophy No. 2.
It wasn’t that easy, though.
Marshall led early after draining three 3-pointers within the first three minutes of the first half. The back-and-forth contest led to a 35-32 halftime lead for West Virginia.
The Mountaineers improved to 9-1 on the year thanks to an 18-2 run midway through the second quarter.
