Freshman wide receiver Sam James and freshman cornerback Tykee Smith have been named Mid-Season All-Americans by the Football Writers Association of America. James leads the team in receptions with 41, is second on the team with 388 yards and third on the team with 2 touchdowns. He has also carried the ball four times.
Tykee Smith is only one of two West Virginia Mountaineers with an interception and Smith returned his for a touchdown against Iowa State. Smith has played in all seven games the Mountaineers played but really made the coaches notice after the Texas game.
