Led by 11-year coach Jon Hammond, the Mountaineers claimed their first of four straight NCAA titles on Saturday, March 9, 2013, shooting a two-day total of 4679, then the second-best mark ever shot at a National Championships. Led by senior international star and Olympic qualifier Petra Zublasing – who became the first female shooter to sweep the individual smallbore and air rifle titles that weekend – a relatively young Mountaineer team earned the program’s first NCAA Championship since 2009 and pushed WVU’s nation-best title count to 15.
Fast-forward to 2017, and another young Mountaineer squad looks to return from a trek to Columbus, Ohio, with a title in hand.
