MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia continued mining Ohio for recruits by adding a pair of defensive commitments Wednesday, cornerback Sean Mahone and defensive tackle Jeffery Pooler.
Both positions are areas of need in the 2016 class, which now stands 22-deep and is ranked No. 31 nationally by Rivals.
Mahone, a three-star prospect, had narrowed his finalists to Kentucky, Virginia and Purdue. Recruiting analysts project the 6-foot, 190-pounder could convert to safety in college, though he’ll certainly get a first look at corner, where West Virginia has two seniors and three juniors in the current rotation.
