Leading 1-0 at the onset of the second half, the Mountaineers received the cushion they desired in the 49th minute, as freshman forward Nia Gordon tallied her third game-winner of the season. Settled inside the box, Gordon split two TTU defenders before placing her shot toward the right post and away from the reach of Red Raider goalkeeper Lauren Watson.
Today’s win is the Mountaineers’ third of the season against a ranked opponent and avenges the team’s lone Big 12 Conference loss, as WVU fell, 2-0, in its first trip to Lubbock in 2013.
