AUSTIN, Texas - The No. 22-ranked West Virginia University women’s basketball team couldn’t overcome a 12-point fourth quarter run by No. 12 Texas, as the Mountaineers fell, 69-54, on Sunday afternoon in front of 4,123 fans at the Frank Erwin Center.
There were four lead changes and West Virginia (16-6, 4-6) led by as many as four in the first quarter. WVU had trimmed the deficit to three, 48-45, at the end of the third quarter. However, UT (16-4, 10-0) used a 12-point spurt to push its lead to 15 points. The victory gave Texas its 14th consecutive victory and 10th in Big 12 play.
