MANHATTAN, Kan. – The No. 21 West Virginia University baseball team won a back-and-forth affair, 9-7, to open a three-game series at Kansas State on Friday night in Manhattan, Kansas.
On a cool, rainy evening at Tointon Family Stadium, the Mountaineers (23-13, 9-4 Big 12) and Wildcats (19-19, 2-11 Big 12) traded the lead five times before WVU scored four runs in the eighth inning.
The victory was WVU’s third in a row and 10th in its last 13 games.
That was a really hard-fought win,” WVU coach Randy Mazey said. “They were very offensive today.
