No. 2 Baylor buckles, then rebounds, to handle Mountaineers

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Considering no opponent had hung closer than 22 points during Baylor’s 15-game win streak, Sunday’s ineffective first half against No. 17 West Virginia sounded the upset alarm.

But once the No. 2 Bears elevated their defensive intensity in the third quarter, they took command for an 83-72 victory rich with intangible lessons.

“I think it’s definitely what we needed, just to give us a little gut check that everything’s not going to be a walk in the park,” said Baylor senior forward Dekeiya Cohen, who scored 13 points. “It’s not always going to be a blowout, so we’re going to have to grind some out.
