BLACKSBURG, Va. – Kevin Brophy and Marques Inman homered, and left-hander Nick Snyder delivered another quality start as No. 22 West Virginia beat Virginia Tech 7-2 on Wednesday night.
The Mountaineers (29-17), who won their fourth consecutive game against the Hokies (25-25), improved to 14-12 on the road.
Snyder (7-1) and four relievers held Virginia Tech to two runs on five hits and stranded 10 baserunners.
Across 6 1/3 innings, Snyder gave up two runs on five hits with 12 strikeouts and four walks.
“He just needs to go out and be Nick Snyder, and he did it again,” West Virginia coach Randy Mazey said of Snyder’s performance.
