Neal Brown sees good and bad at West Virginia’s preseason practice

Football

The Mountaineer football team practiced for about two hours Tuesday morning and used officials for some of the situational work. West Virginia head coach Neal Brown said that he saw “some good and bad” in a practice that started with a lot of energy and competition. WVU also ran red-zone passing drills and had open-field run periods, which were dominated by the defense.

After Monday’s practice that West Virginia head coach Neal Brown said was dominated by the defense, Tuesday’s practice was more balanced and more of what he prefers. Brown highlighted the play of linebacker Dylan Tonkery, defensive lineman Darius Stills, running backs Leddie Brown and Tony Mathis, and bandit VanDarius Cowan.
