MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University sophomore right-handed pitcher Michael Grove has been named the National Pitcher of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).
The honor is the latest recognition for the Wheeling, West Virginia, native this week, after taking a perfect game into the eighth inning on April 8. Yesterday, Grove was named the Big 12 Conference Pitcher of the Week, one of the National Players of the Week by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and the WVU Student-Athlete of the Week.
Grove is the seventh Mountaineer in program history to earn national weekly honors from the NCBWA and the second in as many seasons.
