AMES, Iowa — Behind double-doubles from Teana Muldrow and Naomi Davenport, the No. 17 West Virginia women took down Iowa State 69-59 on Saturday night.
Muldrow scored a game-high 27 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while Davenport finished with 10 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.
In completing the season sweep, the Mountaineers (16-4, 4-4) built a 21-point lead in the third quarter before going without a field goal in the game’s final eight minutes. That’s when the Cyclones (8-11, 2-6) drew within seven points, benefiting from some of WVU’s 16 turnovers.
“Lord knows, we needed a win,” said WVU coach Mike Carey, whose team had absorbed back-to-back losses.
