The No. 17 ranked West Virginia Mountaineers traveled to the North Shore on Tuesday to take on the rival Pittsburgh Panthers at PNC Park, marking the first time the two programs have played each other in the Pittsburgh Pirates home stadium.
Junior left-handed pitcher Nick Snyder was excellent in his midweek starting role once again, allowing just one run on three hits with 11 strikeouts and two walks in 7.0 innings. After the game, Randy Mazey revealed that he’d considered switching Snyder to a weekend starter, but decided against it as he didn’t want to risk messing with the bullpen’s current routine that has proven to be very successful.
