The Mountaineers were ranked within the poll’s top 10 each week but the first two this season. WVU hit as high as a program-best No. 2 on Oct. 12 and held the ranking for four weeks. The Mountaineers were positioned at No. 5 in their last contest of the season, a 2-0 loss at eventual National Champion Penn State in the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight on Nov. 28.
Today’s final ranking is eight spots better than the team’s No. 15 ranking in the final poll of 2014.
