MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia’s mascot fires his musket into the air before each game. Saturday afternoon, West Virginia’s football team fired a musket into its own feet throughout its 42-31 loss to No. 11 Texas.
Austin Kendall was the gift that kept on giving to the Longhorns, throwing four interceptions that Texas (4-1, 2-0 Big 12) converted into 21 points to stay unbeaten in conference play.
Neal Brown was quick to defend his quarterback, who also threw for 376 yards and three touchdowns on 31 of 46 passing.
“You all are going to want to talk about those interceptions, but that’s the best game he’s played without watching it on tape,” Brown said.
