No. 24 West Virginia’s undefeated record and second-best start in program history ended this afternoon in Morgantown, as the Mountaineers fell to the No. 10 Texas Longhorns, 70-49.
Game Recap
The first quarter started with Texas opening a 4-0 lead before Ja’Naiya Quinerly knocked down a second-chance three to put the Mountaineers on the board. Texas had little trouble with West Virginia’s full-court pressure defense, which had been a key factor in the Mountaineers’ undefeated streak heading into this game. The Longhorns held a definite size advantage in this game and were able to capitalize even more as Kylee Blacksten got into foul trouble early in the quarter, but Mark Kellogg’s team refused to roll over.
