Mountaineer Novices Sweep Fall Finale

“The team raced a shorter distance, at a higher rate, than what typical fall racing usually is like,” said WVU novice coach Mandy Merritt. “I’m glad that Duquesne invited us to join Carnegie Mellon, Duquesne and Pitt in the scrimmage so we could race one more time before winter training.”

The race was head-to-head competition, and the course was approximately 3,000 meters in length. The Mountaineers raced two novice eight boats and two novice four boats, and WVU claimed all four races against the Dukes, Panthers and Tartans. Unofficial results were kept as West Virginia had a good workout on the water with excellent conditions.
