MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Amber Smith poured in 28 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and Missouri’s defense stood out in a 68-51 victory at No. 21 West Virginia in women’s basketball action Sunday.
Tynice Martin scored 18 points and Kari Niblack added 10 for the Mountaineers (4-2), who shot just 27.9 percent in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge.
Haley Troup added 14 points for the Tigers (6-2), who outscored WVU 14-6 in the second quarter to lead 34-23 at the half.
“Needless to say, you can’t shoot 12 percent in the second quarter,” West Virginia coach Mike Carey said.
