MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — As visions of Trevone Boykin still danced in their heads, members of the West Virginia defense pulled up a couch Saturday to watch this week’s opponent, Texas Tech.
Cue Jakeem Grant’s 90-yard catch on which he crisscrossed West Texas and crossed up the Oklahoma State defense:
Back in Morgantown, safety K.J. Dillon stared at the television and thought, “Somebody’s got to get this man down. It’s all fun, but when he cuts back 30 times, somebody has to get him down.”
Before the first quarter was finished, Grant added a 100-yard kick return, showing the kind of acceleration that melts cleats into the turf.
