Michael Grove Selected By Los Angeles Dodgers In MLB Draft

Despite not playing in his junior year after undergoing Tommy John surgery, WVU pitcher Michael Grove was selected 68th overall in the Major League Baseball draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Grove becomes the 4th Mountaineer to be selected in the first two rounds of the draft.

The Wheeling, WV native was an All Big-12 second team performer as a sophomore, racking up 61 strikeouts over 47 innings of work. Against Kansas, Grove was perfect into the eighth inning before the Kansas Jayhawks broke up the bid.

Grove is the 87th Mountaineer to be drafted and the highest draft selection since Jedd Gyorko was drafted 59th overall by the San Diego Padres.
