Former West Virginia University baseball left-handed pitcher John Means tossed a no-hitter on Friday afternoon for the Delmarva Shorebirds, the Class A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles.
Means blanked the Charleston RiverDogs, 4-0, in the first game of a doubleheader, striking out six, walking a batter and hitting a batter. He threw 57 of 78 pitches for strikes and it was the first no-hitter for Delmarva since 1998.
"It was really cool. That was my first one ever, first anywhere that I even came close, so that was really cool," Means told MiLB.com. "It was nice to finish it off.
