Martin Paces No. 24 WVU in Loss to No. 4 BU

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The No. 24-ranked West Virginia University women’s basketball team jumped out to an early eight point lead, but No. 4 Baylor used a strong second quarter performance to collect a 71-61 victory over the Mountaineers in front of 4,168 fans at the WVU Coliseum on Saturday.

A solid first quarter allowed the Mountaineers (16-6, 5-4 Big 12) to take an eight point lead with 43 seconds left in the period. However, Baylor (21-1, 8-1) used a quick five-point spurt to end the quarter and followed with a 10-1 run to open the second quarter and hold a 35-30 lead at halftime.
