MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The director of the West Virginia University athletic program says student athletes — notably football players — need to be responsible when outside of team facilities and limit possible exposure to the coronavirus.
WVU athletics director Shane Lyons said on Monday’s “MetroNews Talkline” contract tracing has shown football players have gotten the virus while away from university facilities.
“There are social activities outside of football that we believe where the positive cases occurred,” he said.
Monongalia County has the highest number of active coronavirus cases in West Virginia with 399 confirmed cases.
