Maverick Rowan made a verbal commitment Sunday to North Carolina State. Rowan, a highly-touted 6-foot-6, 210-pound shooting guard, played his first two seasons at Lincoln Park in Beaver County before transferring to Cardinal Gibbons in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., for his junior season. He led Cardinal Gibbons to a state title.
Rowan decided to take a few summer classes and graduate early, so he could play college basketball this season. Rowan finished his graduation requirements Friday.
Rowan had committed to Pitt before his sophomore season but re-opened his recruiting in the fall. This time, St. John’s, Louisville and West Virginia were his other finalists.
