MORGANTOWN, W.Va — Skyler Howard has not officially been named West Virginia’s starting quarterback for the upcoming season, but he has earned something perhaps more important — the trust and respect of his wide receivers.
As the Mountaineers enter the final weeks of preparation before their Sept. 5 season opener against Georgia Southern, some of the team’s top playmakers have heaped praise on the quarterback that bordered on amazement when speaking about Howard’s work ethic and drive.
“We could be sitting there watching TV, and Skyler will be like ‘Do you all want to go catch?’ Everybody will be like ‘Let’s go,’” sophomore wideout Shelton Gibson said Tuesday.
