Leuchanka Leads Belarus with 15 in Setback

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Former West Virginia University student-athlete Natalie Burton (Australia) and Yelena Leuchanka (Belarus) opened Group A basketball action on Saturday at the 2016 Summer Olympics held at the Youth Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Australia rallied from double-digits to pick up an 84-66 win over host country Brazil, while Belarus fell 77-73 in a close bout with Japan.

The Opals’ Liz Cambage paced the way with 20 points and 14 rebounds to lead the No. 2-ranked Opals to the comeback win. Burton, who got into foul trouble early, registered a steal and an assist in 10 minutes of action.
