NEW ORLEANS – The West Virginia University baseball team rallied to erase a 7-0 deficit and tie the game at 8-8 in the ninth inning, but it was not enough in a 9-8 loss at Tulane on Friday night. The loss snapped WVU’s six-game winning streak.
In the opening game of a three-game series in New Orleans, the Mountaineers (6-3) fell behind 7-0 in the fifth inning but rallied with a five-run sixth and runs in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings to tie the game at 8-8.
An NCAA Tournament team a year ago, the Green Wave (2-7) won it on a bases-loaded single with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning.
