Anthony Livingston’s 3-point field goal with six seconds left lifted Texas Tech to an 77-76 overtime victory over seventh-ranked West Virginia Tuesday night at United Supermarkets Arena in Lubbock, Texas.
It is the first regular season win for the Red Raiders over the Mountaineers since they joined the Big 12 in 2012. Tech’s only victory against West Virginia came in the first round of the 2013 Big 12 tournament when WVU finished its season with a 13-19 record.
Zach Smith led Tech with 15 points while Niem Stevenson contributed 13 points and a game-best eight rebounds.
West Virginia (12-2, 1-1) had trouble all night stopping Tech’s dribble penetration and was also victimized by fouls, the Mountaineers sending the Red Raiders to the free throw line 30 times where they made 24.
